Darren commenced CrossFit training in 2003 and started coaching in 2005. In 2006, he was the fourth affiliate to open in Australia. Prior to CrossFit, Darren played football for 20 years including being a representative at Regional level for Rugby and playing Rugby League for Manly Juniors. Other accomplishments include practising martial arts for 20 years and consulting to defence forces here and overseas.
Coaching philosophy
The key to training is intensity. There are no easy days; every day is a hard day.
Why CrossFit?
Through CrossFit I’ve realised that the general population want to be trained like athletes. The training is hard and not nice but they keep coming back because they get results. At CrossFit Newcastle we know what works because we’ve been doing it longer than anyone else. The only way to learn and improve is to train with highly qualified coaches who have the results to back themselves up.
